Katie Hill has been part of the Emmerdale cast since 2017, having taken over the role of Sarah Sugden from Sophia Amber Moore.

Sarah lives with her grandmother Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) at Jacobs Fold, and over the years we’ve seen the character involved in some hard-hitting storylines to do with her health, culminating in a heart transplant in 2018 after chemotherapy for cancer caused heart failure.

Perhaps because of her own battles with her health, Sarah formed a poignant part of Faith (Sally Dexter)’s story when Faith discovered her own cancer had returned and was terminal. Sarah joined Faith in making the most of the time she had left and shared some poignant scenes.

More recently Sarah has been closely involved in the storyline of Mack (Lawrence Robb)’s betrayal of Charity with Chloe (Jessie Elland). Sarah, who is best friends with Chloe, discovered fairly early on that Mack was the father of Chloe’s baby. Trying to keep the truth from Charity she even faked being ill at one point. When Charity finally found out that Mack was baby Reuben’s father, she felt betrayed by her granddaughter as a result.

While Sarah is still very much part of the action on Emmerdale, actress Katie has revealed that there are more strings to her bow than acting, as she has set her sights on a career in the music industry.

Speaking on an Instagram Q&A with Fans, Katie talked about her plans.

‘I’m currently working on making some music which I’m hoping to release some time in the future,’ she said.

Katie’s posts to the platform include several videos showcasing her singing talents, including a beautiful version of Radiohead’s song Creep, which Katie sings while accompanying herself on a keyboard.

The reaction from her fans has been overwhelmingly positive – the video has been liked by over 10,000 people – with one person summing up the reaction by saying, ‘absolutely stunning performance, voice ( and face ) of an angel !!!’

Katie’s former Emmerdale co-star Isobel Steele (who played Liv Flaherty) previously left the show to focus on a music career.

‘I’ve always wanted to do it,’ she told us in April. ‘I’m slowly burning through the songs I’ve written because I’ve written too many now, I’m trying to get them off my chest and get them out. I’m really looking forward to it.’

But Emmerdale fans can relax, as unlike Isobel, Katie currently has no plans to leave Emmerdale to pursue a music career full-time.
