Emmerdale star Emma Atkins reveals Charity's feelings as Mack wants another baby

As Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) and Charity (Emma Atkins) struggle in the aftermath of losing their baby on Emmerdale, they both have very different ways of coping with their feelings.

Emma Atkins says, ‘I think Charity has this default setting when she’s in a lot of pain and emotional. She can sort of switch off and compartmentalise. She figures that’s the way to deal with it, almost by not dealing with it. Mackenzie very much wants to discuss it and potentially start talking about moving on and trying again, which is far from Charity’s thoughts.

‘I think he’s got it in his head now, he’s warming to the idea,’ she continues. ‘He’s found someone he really connects to and he thinks the pregnancy was a happy accident then it went tragically wrong, so what would be the harm in maybe deliberately trying for a baby?’

Unfortunately for Mackenzie, Charity is not on the same page at all. ‘Because of her age and her disposition she’s thinking on a very different path,’ Emma says.

‘Charity is so incandescent with rage about the fact that it’s too soon to be talking about trying again, and especially with her age she feels quite vulnerable that if she’s capable of having an ectopic pregnancy she’s capable of having another miscarriage. With that in mind she’s so annoyed that Mackenzie’s brought this up.’

This leads to a massive argument and Charity lashes out at Mack.

‘She says “Go and plant your seed elsewhere because I’m sure there’s someone out there desperate for it,”’ Emma says. ‘It’s a really profound, mean-spirited comment and it lands quite heavy on Mackenzie and he walks off.’

Will Charity regret her words?
