Emmerdale star targeted by creepy fake account as she issues warning to fans

It’s bizarrely not a new thing for soap stars to have fake accounts created impersonating them, and Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick is the latest to be targeted.

An Instagram user who clearly has too much time on their hands, is pretending to be the actress, who is best known for playing vet Vanessa Woodfield.

The weird account, now set to private, uses pictures of Michelle, and now the star has warned fans to avoid interacting with it.

‘She said: “‘Just been sent this. It’s NOT me. Please don’t interact with this account thinking it’s me,’ she told followers.

‘I’ve reported it. Some people are really bored aren’t they?!?!’

She’s not wrong!

Her fans have supported her by reporting the account, in the hope that it will get taken down soon.

Michelle has previously been the subject of homophobic death threats, forcing her to up security at her home.

The 47-year-old is married to Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks, while also being central to a number of storylines around Vanessa’s sexuality, including her wildly popular romance with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).

Telling OK! Magazine at the time: ‘There have been certain times when police have had to be called because there have been death threats.

‘And when they’re mentioning your son’s name and you’re just going “really? I’m just in a soap you know – we’re not doing any harm to anybody.” The root of it all is always because I’m gay, I’m a gay woman.’

‘And it’s like, “lesbians shouldn’t be on this Earth, just burn in hell and die”.’

Over on her Instagram stories, Michelle revealed she had increased the protection surrounding her home, thanking the company for their services.

Michelle has two children with Kate, son Teddy and new baby daughter Betty.

She is currently away from Emmerdale on maternity leave, but confirmed to Metro.co.uk as the British Soap Awards that she is returning.

‘I’m definitely going back! she told us. ‘I’ve not got a date as such, it’ll be later in the year at some point, but definitely I’ll be back!’

And what about a potential reunion for Vanity?

‘I mean never say never!’, said Michelle.

‘When I left it was Vanessa and Suzy that were together, but they split up on good terms, so who knows? I’m excited to know what’s going to happen!’
