Emmerdale star wants her Corrie sister to win the award they are both up for

Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan is nominated for Best Young Performer at this year’s Inside Soap Awards, but the star, who plays April Winsdor, is actually rooting for another nominee.

We are, of course, referring to her real-life sister Isabella Flanagan, who plays scheming Hope Stape over on Coronation Street, a show which also stars their brother William, who portrays Joseph Brown.

Talent quite clearly runs in the family!

‘It’s surreal that all three of us have ended up in soaps!,’ Amelia told Inside Soap. ‘I’m up against Bella for an award for the first time, and as much as I’d love to win, I really hope my sister gets it!’

The actress, 14, said that when an award ceremony takes place, she is naturally ‘Team Emmerdale’, while her siblings are ‘Team Corrie’, but admitted that it’s ‘never competitive’.

‘I’ve run lines with Bella where she’s played Hope and I’ve pretended to be a character from Coronation Street, and she’s done the same with me, so it’s fun!,’ she exclaimed.

Amelia’s character April featured earlier this week, as she ignored her dad Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and step-mum Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) as she returned home and slumped in front of the TV.

She was snappy and sulky and Marlon and Rhona were completely confused.

Luckily, it was all a wind-up concocted by Bob and April. ‘It’s not funny!’ said a relieved Marlon. ‘Yes it was,’ his daughter replied.

Iconic.
