Emmerdale’s Jurell Carter gives verdict on Nate and Tracy – and if they will last
After his dramatic kidnap, Nate Robinson and Tracy Metcalfe tied the knot in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale.
The pair originally planned to get married secretly in Hotten town hall, but their plan was scuppered by Moira and Cain Dingle. When they spotted Tracy in a wedding dress, they assumed Nate was about to crash the wedding.
Cain knocked Nate out and shoved him in the back of the van before taking him back to the village. When Nate finally came round and declared it was him marrying Tracy, Cain and Moira were horrified.
“Cain and Moira meant well and it came out of love,” says Jurell Carter who plays Nate. “But at the same time, they know they messed it up, they try to reconcile that whole situation and make things better.”
“Nate’s shocked and angry at the same time, because this has been in the planning for months behind closed doors. He's also upset because it was a chance for Nate and Tracy to have their own special day, including baby Frankie. It's gone all pear-shaped."
Actress Amy Walsh is back in the Dales for good following her maternity leave break where she gave birth to baby Bonnie who she shared with EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith.
While Amy was away, her character Tracy split up with Nate and moved to Nottingham. Nate attempted to move on, but Jurell says no one lived up to Tracy.
“Tracy is on a similar path and a similar wavelength. He finds that extremely attractive – finding someone who's his match,” explains Jurell. “Obviously he had a thing with Chloe [Harris, played by Jessie Elland]. I feel like that was just a sexual thing, rather than any kind of romance or anything like that.
"Nate then met Naomi [Walters, Karene Peter]. They got on, but work commitments and not being on the same page got in the way. He's finally met his match with Tracy. I feel like it's nice to see on screen as well."
Looking ahead to the future, Jurell is hopeful that Nate and Tracy are in it for the long-run, but says you can never be sure when it comes to Emmerdale.
"It’s soap, so nothing goes smoothly,” he laughs. “We would love the fairy tale wedding and fairy tale relationship, but at the same time, even in normal relationships you go through ups and downs and things like that. But who knows? We may go through a smooth sailing relationship or maybe not."
