Love Island star says he ‘felt like a fraud’ during ‘difficult’ Casa Amor stint

Former Love Island contestant Matthew MacNabb has revealed that his reality TV debut was "difficult" and left him feeling like a "fraud" as he entered Casa Amor.

Matthew joined the show with five other bombshells, Dale Mehmet, Harry Young, Jack Barlow, Medhy Malanda and Sam Jackson. He managed to woo islander Kaz Kamwi and was brought to the main villa when the pair coupled up during the Casa Amor recoupling.

Despite making a good impression on Kaz and the rest of the villa girls, the 28-year-old has admitted to feeling like a fraud and that he "shouldn't have been there."

When asked if it was difficult to join the show in Casa Amor, Matthew told Spin Genie : "In a way, yes. I felt like a fraud, like I shouldn't have been there in a way."

"All the original boys were out of the villa and we just came in. The girls didn’t know us at that point and you had to build a connection, but in the back of their minds they were with another person."

He added: "It was weird, it was like trying to take over being someone else's boyfriend. It did feel odd, so that was the main thing for me.”

Matthew went on to reveal that he could "definitely tell" who was playing a game and who was being genuine "from a mile off."

"You can tell a mile off from my perspective. I think it comes across on the TV who is playing a game and who actually wants to meet people and experience something. I could definitely see that," he confirmed.

At the Casa Amor recoupling, which Matthew calls as "a really intense experience," Kaz chose to ditch Tyler Cruickshank who she was coupled up with for Matthew. The pair stayed together for 13 days until Matthew was dumped from the islander after Kaz and Tyler reunited.
