Fans will be relieved to know leading actor Robson Green, who has played Geordie Keating since the show’s inception, is reprising his role.

Robson shared: “The anticipation is palpable however, amid the exhilaration, a tinge of sadness lingers for all of us as we are bidding farewell to my close friend and remarkable actor Tom Brittney, whose portrayal of the charismatic Will Davenport will be sorely missed.”

For the upcoming season, based in 1961, life initially appears good for Will and fan-favourite Geordie.

However, when Will is approached with a life-changing officer, will he leave the village and Geordie behind?

Meanwhile, Geordie starts struggling with a personal loss and an ever-growing family conflict between his loved ones.

However, when he arrests an intruder caught breaking into the vicarage, Geordie may find his days of working as a priest are not over.

Season nine of Grantchester is set to air midway through 2024, according to reports, but an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
