Kerry Katona reveals the heartbreaking reason she pulled out of CBB | The Sun

KERRY Katona has revealed the heartbreaking reason she pulled out of Celebrity Big Brother.

The 42-year-old opened up about why in her new book Whole Again – Love, Life and Me: My Story.

Kerry was due to take part in seventeenth series of the reality show back in 2016 after previously starring in the series eight alongside Amy Childs, Jedward and Paddy Doherty.

However the Atomic Kitten singer claimed that she couldn't because of her late husband George Kay, who used to abuse her.

Kerry explained in her book: "The chauffeur was all booked to pick me up. George wasn’t going to let me go without a fight.

"'I take it you’re gonna pay me to look after the kids while you’re gone,' he said, as if such a request was the most normal thing a parent could ask their partner."

The singer was worried about how not taking part in the show would affect other job opportunities.

Kerry continued: "I was gobsmacked. I could barely answer before he looked me square in the eye, and in the most sinister voice I’d ever heard, said: 'Leave those kids with me and watch what f*****g happens.'

"I went into the spare bedroom, sat down on the bed and started crying.

"I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I have always been so professional when it comes to my work.

"How the hell was I going to get out of this job? I was so embarrassed."

She added: "By this point he was so violent and so abusive, I believe wholeheartedly he would’ve killed them if I’d taken the job."

Kerry and George, who share daughter Dylan-Jorge, met when they were teenagers, but only started dating in 2012.

They tied the knot in 2014, but split in October 2015 when Kerry alleged the one-time Warrington Wolves winger assaulted her.

They divorced in 2017.

On July 7, 2019, it was revealed that George had passed away from a suspected drug overdose.

Over the years Kerry has been honest about their relationship, including the abuse she suffered.

Another segment in her book has revealed that her former husband tried to strangle her in a moving car after she told him how Bryan Adams fed her vegetables from his fork.

She also explained how her ex beat her before she filmed the Big Reunion with Atomic Kitten.
