Love Island USA set to welcome former iconic contestant in exciting twist

Love Island USA: Meet the cast

Love Island UK star Maura Higgins is making a comeback to the hit dating reality series – but it’s not in the way fans will think.

The brunette bombshell, who finished in fourth place during her 2019 Love Island stint, has been revealed as the social media ambassador for the Stateside version.

Maura took to Instagram on Friday morning to share the news with her 3.7 million followers, announcing the news by writing: “I’M BACK!!!!!!!!! Bringing you all the behind the scenes gossip live from Fiji for @loveislandusa.”

The Love Island alum also shared a beautiful snap of herself as she donned a figure-hugging dress which was adorned with a floral pattern.

The program’s official Instagram confirmed the news earlier this week too, noting: “This just in… @maurahiggins will be your social ambassador this season bringing (sneaking) you the BTS scoop all summer! #LoveIslandUSA.”

Maura first sparked speculation of her return to the popular dating series earlier this month when she told her fans she was jetting off to a mystery location via a cryptic Instagram story, writing: “Bye bye London… for a long time.”

She then dropped another massive hint when she touched down in her new location and was greeted by two men holding up signs with the Love Island logo on which read the show’s iconic line: “Got a text.”

The Irish beauty isn’t the only famous face to be making an entrance during the upcoming season of Love Island USA.

Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix has also been confirmed to be starring in the show in some capacity, after it was revealed her boyfriend Tom Sandoval was having a months-long affair with her best friend Raquel Leviss.

Ariana is expected to make her Love Island debut during the second week of the show, however, all other details surrounding her role in the series have been kept under wraps.

Previously, the Bravo TV personality teased her upcoming appearance on Love Island via a TikTok, captioning the video, “Islanders: ready to shake things up? Don’t worry, I don’t bite.”

In the post, she posed in a pair of big sunglasses and a lime green bikini as she lip-synced a viral sound from the show: “This week, a hot new bombshell enters the villa.”

Love Island USA premieres July 18 on Peacock in the US.
