Phillip Schofield admits he was nervous over This Morning return after Christmas break

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby returned to This Morning on Monday 9 January after the Christmas break.

Speaking at the start of the show, Phillip, 60, admitted he was "nervous" in case he had forgot how to present as co-star Holly, 41, shared her hilarious advice.

Opening the show, Holly said: "Well hello, we have missed you! There you are, welcome to your Monday's This Morning.

While Phillip added: "How very lovely to see you and a very very happy New Year!

"We texted each other yesterday and Holly said: 'How you feeling?' I said: 'I'm nervous, excited, can't wait to be back.' But you do go through that same stage every single time…

"It's the end of summer and the end of Christmas, when you have completely relaxed, your mind is away from everything and you think: 'I hope I can remember how to do this!'"

To which Holly hilariously said: "That's the thing about being consistently a little bit rubbish, when you get to these points, it's not such a shock for anyone! That's the way to do it, Phil, I learnt that a long time ago."

With an amused Phillip adding: "This Morning – consistently a little bit rubbish – it's not true, it's not true! We're at the top of our game here."

Elsewhere on the ITV chatshow, Holly debuted her new hair after letting her son Chester cut inches off her locks.

Taking to Instagram, the presenter, 41, shared a photo of herself posing in a patterned shirt dress where she debuted cropped blonde locks.

Holly, who had previously sported longer locks, penned: "Good morning and happy new hair! Can’t wait to catch up and see you on @thismorning at 10am… #hwstyle dress by @lkbennettlondon."

The star's 8.1 million followers were quick to react to the new hairdo as one person said: "Your boy did a great job!"

A different account put: "Oh now that’s just lovely! Happy new hair (and happy new year)."

Another fan wrote: "Great to see you again Holly. Looking gorgeous as always."

While another follower added: "Love your hair like this" with a heart eye emoji.

It comes as Holly uploaded a video letting her 8-year-old son cut her gorgeous blonde locks on Sunday.

Holly has three children with her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin – Harry, 13, Belle, 11, and Chester, eight.
