Spoilers: Cain charged with murder as he kills Al in Emmerdale
Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is facing the prospect of the rest of his life behind bars after killing Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) in Emmerdale.
Al’s life came to an end at the very end of last night’s episode, but it was tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap that allowed us to confirm Cain had committed murder.
After the shotgun went off, we saw Cain staring at Al’s lifeless body, horrified at what he had done.
The pace picked up thanks to the arrival of Kerry (Laura Norton), who had overheard the gun while trying to stop Chloe (Jessie Elland) from leaving the village.
As Cain ran back home to say goodbye to Moira (Natalie J Robb) and the children, Kerry had called the emergency services, preparing to make her way to the station for questioning.
In the interview room, it was clear things wouldn’t end well for Cain, as Kerry told the detective how he had been after Al for months – she was fully aware of everything Cain had done to her fiancée and was not going to hold back.
Back in the village, Cain had left his home and was being arrested by armed police, all witnessed by Chas (Lucy Pargeter), who now must process the death of her secret lover without revealing to anyone that she had been having an affair.
As Cain’s interview began, he attempted to spin a story, making out that he had found Al and was only caught with the gun in his hands because he was putting the safety cap on.
Because of the previous statement from Kerry and increasing evidence, the detective took pleasure in telling Cain that his lies will not work, arresting and charging him for Al’s murder.
So, what now?
Jeff Hordley’s exit from the ITV soap has not been announced or teased, so does that mean Cain will walk free?
If so, what will the family have planned to try and save him?
