Strictly Come Dancing stars Carlos Gu and Molly Rainford cheerily reflected on the honour they had dancing in Blackpool last week. The dancing duo survived another dance-off after falling into the bottom two for the third time. They chatted to Rylan Clark on It Takes Two on Friday about their moment in the iconic venue.

Rylan heaped praise on the pair after they performed the Jive to Barry Manilow’s Ballroom Boogie.

The presenter said: “Let’s go back to last weekend, your dance was a proper event.”

Molly excitedly replied: “I loved it. The fact we got to Jive in Blackpool. It was just amazing, the fact we even got to Blackpool for a start is an honour.”

The attention then turned to professional Carlos and the BBC host pressed him on what it meant to dance in the legendary seaside town.

He asked: “It was a first for you, Carlos I know you have a Blackpool tally chart, you’ve been 12 times but you have never danced [in] the Tower Ballroom.”

Carlos revealed: “It is my first time dancing in the Tower Ballroom and it’s a historical place for me to share with Molly, [it] is an honour.

“To make her feel like how it felt for us as a pro, it’s a magic place and a dream come true.”

Rylan also explained how Carlos was coined the King of Jive by head judge Shirley Ballas.

He asked Molly what her emotions were after performing with the world-champion dancer.

The CBBC presenter replied: “It was amazing, honestly, to get a little taster for what the pros feel and what Carlos feels when he goes to Blackpool, which is amazing.

She continued: “It really feels like you are meant to dance in that room, I can’t explain it, it has a different aura about it.”

Rylan then declared the venue is, “the holy grail for dancing”, during the uplifting segment of the Strictly spin-off show.

This week the pair will dance the Tango to Billie Eilish’s hit Bad Guy, a combination that will surely boost their chances of avoiding the dreaded dance-off.

Despite scoring an impressive 35 out of a possible 40 they found themselves under the red spotlight.

However, for the third time this year, they won over the majority of the judges’ hearts.

They defeated Tyler West and his partner Dianne Buswell, who made a shock exit.

There are currently six remaining celebrity hopefuls looking to lift the Glitterball Trophy in December.

Ellie Taylor is currently the favourite with most bookmakers to be eliminated.

Ladbrokes believe she is the favourite to leave and price her and Johannes Radebe at 4/6 to be voted out of the competition.

Alex Apati from the bookmakers said: “We’re firmly into the business end of this year’s Strictly, and the latest odds suggest Ellie Taylor looks set to miss out on a place in the final five.”
