This Morning fans claim awkward segment was dig at Phillip Schofield

This Morning host apologises for embarrassing slip up

This Morning viewers branded the dating segment with Luke Chilton “awkward” with many claiming it was a “dig” towards Phillip Schofield.

Introducing the segment, Craig Doyle said: “We’re going to talk about dating disasters, most people can relate to this but we are joined by someone who has a bit of light at the end of this precarious tunnel in the dating world.”

Luke discussed his novel, Don’t Swipe Right, and revealed his own “serial dating disasters” and told the presenters: “While I was working here, I was becoming a bit addicted to dating apps.

“I had them all. I was going on about two, three dates a week, getting ready in the studio toilets after work and going straight out to go rock climbing and salsa dancing and bowling.”

Luke revealed he was single on and off for about eight years and reached a staggering 212 dates, many of them being firsts.

He added he met a lot of “amazing” people during his journey of looking “for the one” but ended up on a conveyer belt of dating.

Luke wrote his book during the pandemic, pulling all his dating disasters into it, and told the show that he had around six apps at a time.

Recalling how he managed to get out of the cycle, he admitted: “I said, ‘That’s it, this is too much I’m addicted’ but as I went to delete the last one I saw a final match and it was her.

“I thought why not roll the dice one more time give it a go and…she was the one.”
