I saw the afterlife when I nearly died – here's the vivid part that I remember | The Sun

A MAN who nearly died after suffering a seizure has revealed the vivid part of the afterlife he remembers.

Bert Biscoe, 70, from Truro in Cornwall, collapsed at his home at the end of May this year.

The former Mayor of Truro was resuscitated by his wife Sue and then spent ten days in a coma at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

Bert suffered a seizure in his kitchen due to a diabetic condition he was not aware he had.

He has now revealed that he vividly remembers seeing himself in the coma, while doctors and his family were there.

"I had a profound time on the other side in the dark although I didn't like the accommodation and came back," the county councillor told CornwallLive.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall continued: "I was out of it for ten days – I was unconscious for a chunk of it and then they put me into a controlled coma.

"I had no idea of the passage of time and what was going on.

"As I was coming out of the coma I opened my eyes and this may have been hallucinatory but I remember looking up at a mirror and seeing myself with a green tube coming out of my mouth and doctors floating around a bit ethereally, and my wife and two daughters were there."

The historian, poet and songwriter has also written a poem called A la commode! about coming out of the coma.
