King Charles’ first Christmas message won’t stray too far from the late Queen’s usual traditions, say royal experts – who predict his first broadcast to nation as monarch will reflect on ‘how positive’ Queen Elizabeth II was

King Charles is likely to deliver a Christmas speech today that does not sway too far away from his late mother’s traditions, royal experts predict.
In the lead up to His Majesty’s first Christmas Day address, royal specialists have shared their expectations of something ‘heart-warmingly familiar’ that pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
Speaking to The Sun, Royal Expert Adam Helliker said: ‘I think [Charles] will use a lot of the phrases the Queen used – which many people thought were sort of bland, but important.

‘I don’t think they’ll start messing around with traditions.’
It has also been noted that King Charles wore a boldly coloured suit at the filming of the pre-recorded speech – regarded to be another nod to his late mother who believed the best way to be noticed was to dress vibrantly.
Historian Jeremy Archer agreed that the King will centre his first speech around Queen Elizabeth and told OK! Magazine: ‘I’m quite sure he’ll spend as much time talking about his mother as he does about everything else.
‘He’ll talk about how positive she was and how inclusive she was. It will be solemn and reflective, but it will show gratitude for her reign, her life and all the things she’s achieved.’
The speech, which is set to broadcast at 3pm, was filmed on December 13 at St George’s Chapel Windsor Castle, where the world saw the Queen’s coffin for the very last time.

Today the King is to celebrate Christmas alongside his family at Sandringham for the first time since the Queen’s passing.
The royal standard is flying above the private Norfolk estate where Charles and the Queen Consort will be on Christmas Day, marking a return to traditional royal festivities.
Members of the Royal Family will attend at morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church together.
Royal Christmases also feature the greeting of well-wishers, and a family lunch with turkey and all the trimmings.

Despite emphasis on tradition, it will be the first time the Royal Family has spent Christmas at Sandringham since 2019 and will be a poignant period after the death of the Queen in September.
Sandringham House has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs for more than 160 years, and now belongs to the King.
The Prince and Princess of Wales and their children are expected to join the King and his wife, alongside the Princess Royal and her family and the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children.
The Duke of York and his former wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, are understood to be on the estate but it is not known if Andrew – whose reputations was left in tatters by a civil sex case he settled out of court – will make a public appearance.
Traditionally, members of the Royal Family sit down to watch the televised address when it airs after lunch.
