Man is found dead in tent at Download Festival as revellers headed home after the event – as police say death is not being treated as suspicious

A man has been found dead in a tent at Download Festival.

Music fans frantically called for help as concerns grew for the welfare of the man at the festival’s campsite.

Police and paramedics were called and despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead on Monday.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, Leicestershire Police confirmed.

A spokesman said: ‘On Monday morning, officers received a call for the welfare of a man in a tent at the festival in Castle Donington.

‘They attended along with on-site medical responders. However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

‘Identification of the deceased is a matter for HM Coroner.’ 

A Download Festival spokesman added: ‘At Download Festival, it always feels like one big family and community, so we are devastated to hear about the death of one of our own.

‘Our thoughts go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.’

Around 100,000 music fans descended on Donington Park, Leicestershire, for the four-day festival last week.
