THIS is the dramatic moment a gunfight erupted in a cafe as a robbery went wrong.

Crooks attempting to steal a Rolex from a businessman at a Starbucks in Tulum, Mexico, were forced to flee as his friend pulled out his own gun and started firing back.

Footage shows wealthy tycoon David Gonzalez Cuellar sitting in the cafe talking on his phone, sitting opposite Luis Carlos.

A man wearing a crash helmet then walks in and pretends to join the queue to get a coffee.

Seconds later, a second bloke comes in and suddenly pulls out a gun.

He then demands Cuellar and Carlos hand over their valuables – including the businessman's flash Rolex watch.
