Shocking new footage has shown zombified tranq addicts swaying on the sidewalk in Philadelphia – following presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s visit to the ‘warzone’ Democrat city.

The Kensington neighborhood, ‘ground zero’ for the city’s drug epidemic, is often seen strewn with trash and addicts injecting drugs in the middle of the day.
The drug disaster has been fueled by the rise of Xylazine, known as ‘tranq’ – a lethal sedative that is used to enhance the effects of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine. The ‘zombie drug’ leaves users with rotting flesh – sometimes requiring amputation.
GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who has visited the site as part of his campaign, said that the sorry sights on the streets of Philadelphia had turned into an ‘open-air drug market.’

Philadelphia has become overwhelmed by drug-fueled crime under Democratic District Attorney Larry Krasner, a self-described ‘progressive prosecutor.’
His failure to crack down led to his impeachment in 2022 for ‘dereliction of duty’, however he remains in office after his trial was indefinitely postponed.
Ohio-born Republican Ramaswamy, in response to the clip, posted his own footage from when he visited, with the caption: ‘The people I met in Kensington, PA, couldn’t care less if you had an R or D next to your name.
‘Fentanyl, Violence and homelessness are the problem. That’s what we show up to fix. America First.’
In a video of him walking around the city, he said: ‘Look, there are needles lying on the left and right, just saw two rats running by. It’s not just driven by poverty.
‘Here, it’s actually inflicted by drug users literally crossing our southern border.
‘It’s like an open-air drug market.’
Ramaswamy added: ‘It’s a shame that those who obsess over climate change and third-world poverty don’t care more about the misery on the streets right here at home.
‘I visited Kensington not because it’s a popular place for presidential candidates to go, but because it’s not.’

One person who saw the video on social media wrote: ‘Yes this is real. It’s Kensington & Allegheny. This is just the tip of the iceberg. They are on heroin, fentanyl and tranq.
‘The tranq causes such bad flesh wounds you can see exposed bone on many. Rehabs won’t take people with open wounds so they keep using and wounds get worse.
‘The city and our Soros backed DA does nothing. Instead they fund needle exchange and free needle programs where users take handfuls of clean needles and sell them for more drugs.
‘No, the insane open air drug use isn’t everywhere but is is spreading. Junkies are all over Market and Chestnut street in Center City.
‘Don’t think it’s going to get any better. This is the norm in cities run by democrats for generations. Even the GOP here is corrupt.
‘If this is what the people want is it even worth saving?’
Another former Philly local said: ‘Philly was practical unlivable by the time I moved out last year. I knew multiple people that were robbed at gun point, my car window was smashed (for them to only steal 12 quarters), and so much more.
‘Really sad watching this all happened.’

Just last week, the White House unveiled a plan to tackle the growing presence of the powerful animal sedative xylazine in a six-point agenda.
The administration stopped short of recommending restrictions on the medication with pushback from farmers, veterinarians and others that regularly use the drug in their field.
Federal officials hope the new strategy will reduce xylazine-related overdose deaths by 15 percent by 2025.
Meanwhile, crime has soared by a fifth in Philadelphia compared to last year, with theft among the law-breaking which has made the problem persistent.
Homeless people and drug addicts are often driven to petty theft as a way to find sustain themselves or scrape enough money together to supply their addictions.
Footage by Dailymail.com back in May revealed the scale of Philadelphia’s untamed ‘tranq’ epidemic, which has transformed the city’s streets into a drug-infested hellhole.
Just two months later, images show that the situation is the same.
Gruesome scenes in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ show droves of homeless addicts aimlessly staggering through the streets, surrounded by tents and scattered trash.
One person gave DailyMail.com an inside look into the harrowing situation, explaining ‘people are starving, people are overdosing.’
‘I’ve had to do CPR on five people out here. We have found three dead bodies, people just stepping over bodies that are laying there. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve had to do Narcan, uh, for folks,’ the person said.
The person added that the addicts are flocking from California and New York and other areas of the United States.
‘You know, when I, when we come from Virginia, people are like, why are you going to Philly? It’s a Philadelphia problem.
‘Like, this is an America problem and it’s coming to a city near you if we don’t do something about it because, um, people are literally coming from all over the east coast because they know they can come here and use and they won’t, they won’t get in trouble for it.’
