Tesco has pulled its own-brand grated cheddar cheese from supermarket shelves over fears it could contain ‘small pieces of clear soft plastic’.
The multinational retailer issued a warning to customers and recalled its 500g Creamfields grated cheddar product with a best before date of March 23, 2023.
A product recall poster read: ‘We’re recalling one date code of Tesco Creamfields grated cheddar 500g.
‘This is because it may contain small pieces of clear, soft plastic which could make the product unsafe to eat.’

In 2021 Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and M&S were forced to recall a slew of items over incorrect date labelling.
Items such as Lindt chocolate, pre-cooked chicken and sausage rolls were added to the FSA’s recall list along with reasons.
Some of the items were recalled for a failure to list allergens like soya and wheat.
The list included the Lindt Lindor salted caramel chocolate bar, M&S 20 cocktail sausage rolls and Asda maple flavour pork belly slices.
