When they tied the knot in 2015, soon-to-be exes Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello reportedly signed a $100 million prenup to protect their multi-million dollar fortunes.

The Modern Family actress, 50, is said to have a whopping $180million net worth, while the Magic Mike hunk, 46, comes in second at a reported $40million.

Though much has been hidden from the public, Sofia has made it clear over the years that she and her now-estranged husband have kept their finances separate — seemingly ensuring them a clean split.

She also previously dished that Joe had no issue with a prenuptial agreement, telling Howard Stern in 2015: ‘He said, ‘Do whatever you want. I’ll sign whatever you want.”

And now, with news that the couple are divorcing after nearly eight years of marriage, DailyMail.com is taking a look at just what that ‘iron-clad’ prenup protects and what may still be up in the air…

Sofia Vergara’s $180million fortune — from an 11-season run on Modern Family to her very own beauty brand.

The Colombian-born beauty started as a model after being scouted by a photographer in her home country. She landed a Pepsi commercial at just 17-years-old.

Though she appeared in a number of films, it was not until she landed the role of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC’s hit sitcom Modern Family that she’d be catapulted to superstardom.

The series — which also starred the likes of Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ariel Winter — premiered in September 2009 and wrapped in May 2020 after 11 seasons.

At the height of the show’s success Forbes reported that she was earning ‘$500,000 per episode’ — with each season averaging 22 episodes.

She was named the ‘highest paid TV actress’ by Forbes in 2020 after raking in a reported $43million.

The years before Modern Family wrapped, Sofia began negotiations with NBC to judge America’s Got Talent alongside Simon Cowell, Howie Madel and Heidi Klum.

With a reported salary of $10million per season — $70,000 per episode — Sofia joined the talent competition show in its fifteenth season.

She remains on the judging panel with the show’s 18th season currently in full swing.

In 2019, Sofia entered the fashion world when it was announced that she’d partnered with Walmart on an affordable and ‘size-inclusive’ clothing line for women.

She’s also partnered with Foster Grant on her own collection of reading glasses and sunglasses.

In June of this year, Sofia launched her very own beauty brand ‘Toty,’ which currently offers a line of ‘multi-benefit suncare solutions.’

She partnered with Cantabria Labs on the venture, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

Despite having over 30 million followers on Instagram, Sofia appears to steer away from sponsored posts and, instead, uses her massive reach to tout her own products.

With so many collaborations, entrance into the beauty space and lucrative TV deals, it’s no wonder that Sofia has racked up an impressive net worth over the span of her career.

Sofia and Joe’s $10million Beverly Hills abode

Sofia and Joe re-listed their Beverly Hills home in June for $18million — less than two months before announcing their split.

They originally listed it last summer for $19.6 million after a remodel but took it off market.

The Italian-style villa is co-listed with Barry Peele of Sotheby’s International Realty and Santiago Arana of The Agency.

It was previously alleged by TMZ that Sofia had forked over the original $10.4million needed to snap up the seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom home in 2015.

The sprawling 11,000 square foot mansion comes with a 10-seat movie theater, full size gym with sauna and 3,000 bottle wine cellar.

It is located in the highly exclusive and desirable neighborhood of Beverly Park.

Sofia and Joe reportedly purchased a nearby residence that is still under-construction but details about the deal and state of the property are unknown.

Who will get custody of Bubbles?

Despite having no children together, it’s been speculated that the couple may battle it out over their shared Chihuahua, Bubbles.

The pair have famously argued over the 10-year-old pooch on social media, often joking that Bubbles likes Joe more.

According to California law, a judge can weigh in on who should get pets in a divorce.

In January 2019, a new California law changed the way pet custody is handled in divorce cases.

This new law gives judges the power to consider the care and the best interest of the pet when making decisions in separation or divorce matters.

Before 2019, California courts treated pets like property. The pet would be considered a part of the property to be divided when the marriage ended.

Often judges would base their decision on which party purchased or adopted the animal. Judges had a lot of say in who got the dog and who would just visit.

Pets are still technically classified as personal property, but this new law takes more into consideration.

There is an Animal Legal Defense Fund that can guide Sofia and Joe on animal protection laws.

What’s at stake for Hollywood’s former power couple?

Divorce attorney Frederic J. Siegel of the Siegel, Colin & Kaufman law firm — who has no affiliation with Sofia, Joe or their divorce proceedings — offered his legal opinion to Page Six regarding their prenup.

He theorized that Sofia and Joe’s prenup ‘probably had what is called a walkaway.’

This means that Sofia ‘keeps what she has and what she earns, and [Joe] keeps what he has and what he’s earned.

‘So with a prenup — and without kids [together] — it becomes a much simpler case.’

Siegel told the outlet that he believes Sofia and Joe are probably ‘at a more advanced stage [in their divorce] than people would think.’

He believes this because ‘usually when people make the announcement like they made yesterday, they’ve already done some of the preliminary work.

Siegel also stated that the split doesn’t appear ‘messy’ and that the pair ‘recognize the fact that if it’s a bad divorce, their careers can be put in jeopardy.

‘It really doesn’t serve anybody. They’ve got very nice careers. They don’t want to be airing their dirty laundry in public.’
