Bridget Jones star Renee Zellweger is said to be “engaged” to her British TV presenter partner, Ant Anstead, and are now planning her wedding however, they are “keeping their plans incredibly private”.
The 54 year old and her boyfriend Ant, 44, are believed to have had a “low-key” engagement following her previous marriage to country music star Kenny Chesney in 2005, which was short lived as they called it quits on their marriage after four months.
A friend of the Hollywood actress told The Sun: “Renee and Ant are keeping their plans incredibly private, they’re not planning a big public announcement.
“She has been telling her inner circle about organising their nuptials, everything will be very low-key.”
Describing Renee’s relationship with Ant, the friend continued: “Her relationship with Ant is super strong and they’re madly in love, and they can’t wait to get hitched.”
OK! has approached Renée's representatives for comment.
The loved-up duo have been dating since September 2021 and their relationship appears to have gone from strength to strength. They were recently spotted together at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, along with Ant’s teenage children.
They looked like a happy family and Renee looked stunning in a skintight sparkly gold dress as she posed alongside partner Ant and his son Archie, 16, and daughter Amelie, 19.
Dad-of-three Ant shares his oldest children Amelie and Archie with his first wife Louise and welcomed his youngest son Hudson with reality star Christina Haak in 2019 before the pair decided to get divorced.
Mechanic Ant opted not to answer questions about his romance with Renée during a recent Good Morning Britain interview. Appearing on the show to promote a new race car alongside Jenson Button, the pair had been talking about Lewis Hamilton when presenter Adil Ray decided to quiz Ant on his love life.
After being asked: “How’s Renée?”, Ant decided to make light of not wanting to talk about the topic, turning to Jensen to joke: "It's a really bad line."
Jenson giggled as he cheekily agreed: "It's gone a bit crackly." Ant replied: "Tell them more about Lewis. Is Lewis going to come back next year?"
Meanwhile Renée was previously engaged to her co-star Jim Carrey in 2000 before their split. The star had previously sparked romances with a number of Hollywood a-listers including Hangover star Bradley Cooper and White Stripes rocker Jack White.
Renée’s dating history and her struggles to find love has sparked comparisons with her iconic character Bridget Jones, who she first played in 2001. Since then Renée has spoken about how her own life has mirrored Helen Fielding’s fictional unlucky in love character.
Speaking on the BBC documentary Being Bridget Jones, Renée has said how she relates “most closely” to the things that people would most like “not to have in common” with the character.
