Pete Davidson Agrees to 50 Hours of Community Service to Clear His Reckless Driving Charge

A few months after crashing his Mercedes-Benz car into a house in Beverly Hills, the ‘Saturday Night Live’ alum is also subjected to complete 12 hours of traffic school.

AceShowbizPete Davidson has struck a deal for his misdemeanor reckless driving charge. A few months after crashing his car into a house in Beverly Hills, the former “Saturday Night Live” star was revealed to have agreed to complete 50 hours of community service in exchange of clearance from criminal offense record.

On Monday, July 24, TMZ unveiled that the 29-year-old comedian will be cleared from the charge if he can complete a diversion program for the next 18 months. The program required him to do 50 hours of community service among other things.

For his community service work, Pete is allowed to serve at the New York City Fire Department, where his late father worked before he died in the 9/11 attack. The NYC Fire Department said in a statement, “As the son of a 9/11 hero, we would be happy to provide Mr. Davidson an opportunity to do his required community service.”

The King of Staten Island” actor is also required to complete 12 hours of traffic school and to gain knowledge on the impacts that victims of a reckless driver get by attending a morgue or hospital. In addition, he must pay “restitution and obey all laws,” as stated by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Pete was involved in the car accident back on March 4. At the time, he was driving around Beverly Hills with his rumored girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders. At around 11 P.M., he reportedly drove his Mercedes-Benz at a high rate of speed in the Flats neighborhood, leading it to hit the side of a house and a nearby fire hydrant.

While the “Bodies Bodies Bodies” actor was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at that time, a 16-year-old child of the homeowner was left traumatized and shaken up.

In a March interview with TMZ, the homeowner stated that his daughter, who was home alone at the time of the accident, initially thought it was an earthquake. The father went on to note that Pete and Chase have apologized directly to his daughter after the crash.

Pete was charged with reckless driving by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in June.
