9 best Valentine’s Day 2023 nail art ideas to put you in a romantic mood

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than to treat yourself to some whimsical, romance-inspired nail art? Whether you’re in a relationship or not, we’ve scoured the internet to find some amazing designs that will give you all the manicure inspo you need for your next trip to the salon – or even attempt at home.

From feminine shades and subtle touches to fun and flirty patterns, there really is something for everyone to fall in love with this February. Here are our top Valentine’s-inspired designs, from Instagram and some of our favourite salons…

Tiny hearts

Copy our deputy beauty editor Zoe and ask for a nude base coat with tiny red heart details at the base of the nail. Zoe's manicure was done at Beauty Club London using BIAB polish, a thicker gel polish that helps to strengthen the natural nails underneath.

Floral fancy

You can buy yourself flowers…in the form of this pretty design from Townhouse salons' V-Day collection. We love the intricate petals and complementary shades of pink.

Go goth

“For something different, I predict we're going to see people embracing their inner Wednesday Addams with gothic nail elements, lots of black, red, and gold," says Alice McNails, ambassador for beauty service booking site Booksy. "Heart tips were huge in 2022 and my customers are still loving them into 2023.”

All white

For a very subtle nod to the occasion, switch up your usual French mani for a scattering of white hearts on one nail. It also won't look that out of date once 14 February is over with, either.

Fashion forward

For all you fashionistas out there, this trendy design is inspired by Japanese fashion brand Comme des Garçons, with its iconic googly-eyed heart motif.

Heart-shaped tips

This design works best if your nails are long and pointed or almond shaped. We love how simple but effective it is.

Love yourself

Planning on some me-time this Valentine’s Day? Put yourself first this year and opt for this self-love inspired mani.

Groovy swirls

If you’re looking for something a little less Hallmark, opt for red and pink in a cool retro swirl design.

Ace of hearts

A fun twist on the classic pink and white mani. We love the added playing card design on the ring finger too, which you could customise with your own initial. Or if you’re feeling particularly lovedcup, your significant other’s initial!
