Amy makes a worrying decision in Corrie after getting bad news

Amy Barlow’s (Elle Mulvaney) recovery journey after being raped by Aaron Sandford (James Craven) will see her make a big decision about her future in Coronation Street.

The beloved character was attacked by Aaron when she was unconscious and unable to consent. The storyline has focused on the injustice of Amy’s situation as she not only decided to drop her case with the police but has been incredibly frustrated over Aaron’s inability to confront the problem and accept what he did.

Things took a turn for Amy this week, however, as Aaron finally went over the night in question after trying to write a retraction statement on Amy’s behalf.

As reality hit him, Aaron told Amy that he’s going to drop the libel case but still refused to look at her in the eyes.

Aaron told Amy that he’s sorry and jumped in Eric’s car, leaving Amy on the cobbles in tears.

‘When he read it, it seemed like she was backtracking on things that they’d both admitted in the past which worried him, because to him it made it obvious that she was just writing the retraction to make it all go away’, James Craven told us, discussing how much things changed for Aaron during this moment.

‘Obviously he wanted and needed something that was concrete and solid that would prove his innocence. It wasn’t until he went to write it himself that he actually struggled to put it into words and started to realise that what he believed was the truth maybe wasn’t the truth.’

Coming up, with Amy trying her best to look towards the future now, she tells Summer (Harriet Bibby) about her plans to focus on university.

Sadly, after Amy’s tutor tells her that she needs to repeat the whole year, she’s left wondering whether she should just drop out.

Wanting to help her friend, Summer points out that they’ll be re-doing the year together after her ordeal involving pregnancies, surrogates and kidnapping…but will Amy change her mind?

Will she let Summer support her?
