Devastating scenes as a broken Amy contemplates self harm again in EastEnders

Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) has been rocked by recent events in the Branning household that have seen the family torn apart in EastEnders, and her mental health has begun to deteriorate once more as a result.

Fearing that keeping the secret of her affair would destroy young Amy, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) revealed the gory details of her kiss with Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

Jack was understandably broken by the revelation, and things weren’t looking good for the future of the couple.

Though Amy tried to get the pair talking over a coffee in the café, her plan backfired when Jack stormed out, leaving her worried that their family would never be the same again.

Denise tried her best to comfort her, but things took a turn when she admitted why she had kissed Ravi.

As she explained how Jack didn’t seem very eager about their Valentine’s date, Amy jumped to the conclusion that this was all her fault, as she had suggested the date in the first place.

After an argument with Denzel and Nugget (Jaden Ladega and Juhaim Rasul Choudhury), Amy was left feeling panicky, pacing her bedroom as she struggled to control her breathing.

As her panic attack worsened, she made a phone call, telling the person on the end of the line how scared she was of what was happening to her.

Clutching her ‘mum’ necklace, a reminder of Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) who died in 2017, she was horrified when it broke, causing her even more distress.

Devastated, Amy began trashing her bedroom, knocking over furniture and throwing things, until eventually her mirror shattered.

As Amy stood over the shards of broken glass, she suddenly became very still, clearly deep in thought.

Is Amy set to turn to self harm once more as her family remains in crisis?

EastEnders continues Thursday April 20 at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
