Holly Willoughby snubs ITV Summer Party as she takes extended break

Holly Willoughby has awkward on-air 'gimp' blunder

This Morning’s Holly Willoughby decided against going to ITV’s annual Summer Party on Wednesday night and jetted off to Portugal for a break with her family instead.

The big event took place at London’s The Mandrake Hotel, but Holly wasn’t the only one to swerve the star-studded event.

An insider told OK!: “She appreciates her family more than ever right now… the last couple of months have been really stressful and it’s highlighted for her the importance of family.

“She will be thinking about the future and making sure her family is priority.”

Holly recently left This Morning for her annual Summer break, and in previous years, her break from the ITV show would be announced and with the last episode being a big deal.

However, this year the presenter quietly slipped off with stand in’s Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary stepping in to hold the fort.

Her silence comes after a tough couple of months, with both ITV and Holly being rocked by former presenter and best friend Phillip Schofield’s admission he had an affair with a younger male colleague.

After Phillip decided to step down from his role at This Morning and from ITV altogether, Holly addressed the scandal upon her return but has remained silent since.

Over the last couple of weeks, Holly has been joined by fellow stars Dermot, Alison, Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle to present the daytime show.

Holly wasn’t the only one to miss the ITV party as Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway were also missing.

Susanna’s snub comes after fans spotted a “feud” between herself and co-star Richard Madeley, picking up on reoccurring digs and annoyed looks.

On Tuesday, Susanna was seen rolling her eyes, shrugging and pulling faces during the show, with Richard interjecting during a conversation with Lorraine.

However, AJ Odudu, Charlotte Hawkins and Olivia Attwood were among the first to arrive at the annual party.

Former Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu risked an awkward run-in with recent ex Davide Sanclimenti, whilst Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page were all smiles as they arrived.

Supporting the broadcaster’s party, Lorraine Kelly, Laura Whitmore and Robert Rinder were just a few of the other famous names in attendance.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
