Kim takes a huge step with her decision over her PTSD in EastEnders

Poor Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) has really been struggling with her mental health recently in EastEnders. Since returning home from a spell in prison after crashing her car and injuring Denzel (Jaden Ladega), Kim has continued to suffer from panic attacks and PTSD.

In coming episodes Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and Howie (Delroy Atkinson) are sad when she tells them that she’s a broken woman and is no longer the Kimfluencer as she can’t face doing her online videos. Howie attempts to bolster her by telling her that she’s being strong, and that with the help of the therapy that’s been arranged she will get through these difficult times.

He also encourages her to go back online. She’s very hesitant as she does so, but as she gets back into the Kimfluencer swing of things, Howie is concerned that she cancelled her first session with the therapist.

He wonders whether she’s now trying to use her online activities as a mask to cover how bad she’s really feeling and he persuades her to pause what she’s doing so she can see the therapist.

At first when she meets Dr Anwar Kim tries to cover her real feelings behind a facade of being fine, but it’s not long before she starts to open up and bravely talks to the doctor honestly about how she’s been feeling.

Dr Anwar shares some techniques to help her manage her anxiety and PTSD, and Kim is pleased that she took the difficult step to go to the appointment.

In the wake of this she makes a decision. She’s going to talk about mental health on the Kimfluencer channel.

Howie urges her to be cautious, knowing that people can be nasty online and worrying about how that could impact Kim’s mental health just as she’s started to experience some progress.

But when Kim gets fired up about a plan it takes a lot to stop her. Is Howie right to be concerned? Or is sharing her mental health journey with her followers exactly what she needs?
