Love Island’s Mitch called ‘game player’ as he makes relationship move after dig

Love Island fans were left cursing Mitch Taylor during Thursday's instalment (July 27) of the ITV2 show after he pledged to go "exclusive" with beau, Ella Barnes.

The 26-year old star made the remark as the pair enjoyed a "piece of paradise" final date featuring a live performance by world-class cellist, Hauser in idyllic surroundings.

After popping the champagne, and enjoying an exotic breakfast by the lake Mitch soon stunned viewers by expressing his willingness to take their relationship to the next level.

Ella duly obliged, offering him a kiss in return – just hours after he had branded the blonde bombshell as "fake", telling a bemused Lochan that he believed she "cares more about being in her [the villa] than she does about being with me".

Sipping her bubbly on the date, Ella admitted: "I don't have any doubts, but obviously how you handled the messy Mitch situation does sometimes scare me… because I just think 'in the outside world what are you going to be like if there's loads of girls around you, is your head going to be scrambled?'"

Mitch interjected, telling her that his parents' approval of their relationship had proven to be a game-changer.

"What it was for me – and what really gave me the green light was when I sat down with my mum and dad," he explained. "My mum is such a good judge of character so I knew [after talking to her] then it was going to work. So you've got the green light from my mum and dad."

In a similar fashion, Ella responded: "Seeing my mum and sister – obviously they said they think you're really nice. They absolutely love you and for me that's a massive thing because family is such a big part of my life. If you don't fit in with my family then it's never going to work. My mum said I was so glowing and had never seen me so happy."

Getting serious, Mitch reassured her: "My priority is love and I just want to prove to you that it's you I want. I want to be exclusive with you. I want to prove that with you. What I want is you. So will you be exclusive with me?"

"Yes, it's music to my ears!" replied Ella, with a huge smile on her face.

Many viewers were clearly unimpressed, however, feeling it was kneejerk reaction to surviving a vote off, in which they landed in the bottom three alongside Zach and Molly and Abi and Scott.

"Mitch calling Ella B fake then making them exclusive the day the islanders have to choose who get dumped. He is such a game player and doesn't even try to hide it #loveisland," one Twitter user commented.

Another agreed: "Mitch making it exclusive is not because he is Messy Mitch and was swept away with the romance, it’s to try and influence the votes and it is so transparent I really hope the others see through it #LoveIsland."

Others simply called out Mitch for being the "fake" one himself, as one user added: "Says she's fake… He then turns out and sees her coming and gives her a kiss… Now he's all exclusive… he's so FAKE… Ewww #LoveIsland."

"Please give Mitch an Oscar because how can you go from Ella B is so fake to can we be exclusive," questioned another viewer.

Others declared: "Mitch only wants to be exclusive so he can say that the "fake" comment is in the past and should be overlooked #LoveIsland" and "The way he called Ella B fake was out of the blue.

"And shows that Mitch has been thinking she fake for a while. Now he wants to make it exclusive his confused #LoveIsland."
