New Love Island stars forced to pause social media and will get relationship training

Love Island's new safety protocols include the new contestants having training into spotting coercive and controlling behaviour as well as their Instagram accounts remaining dormant.

The hit ITV programme is just weeks away from starting, with a whole host of new singletons entering the villa in a bid to find The One.

Now, ahead of the launch, ITV has outline the new duty of care protocols they've put in place for before, during and after their time on the programme.

Participants of the show will be asked to pause their social media accounts for the duration of their time in the villa – which means their family members will not take over their handles for them.

Nothing will be published on their behalf as a result of this new measure.

Before making their way into the villa for the second ever winter series of the show, Islanders will get "guidance and training around mutually respective behaviour in relationships".

The contestants will be offered reading material to help them spot and understand "behaviour patterns associated with controlling and coercive behaviour".

ITV bosses have also shared how people contributing to Love Island will continue to be offered video training and guidance around inclusive language around disability, sexuality, race and ethnicity as well as micro-aggressions.
