Ricky Gervais likes tweets slamming Stewart Lee following After Life criticism

It certainly appears Ricky Gervais is across comments made by comedian Stewart Lee, who recently branded Netflix’s After Life ‘one of the worst things ever made.’

Fans caught up with widow Tony Johnson (played by Ricky) for the final time when After Life premiered on the streaming service in January.

The heart-rending series follows local reporter Tony’s struggles with depression following the death of his wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman), as viewers watch him attempt to navigate his grief.

While the 61-year-old expressed how ‘overwhelmed’ he was by the reaction from viewers, stand-up comic Stewart made his contrasting opinion known.

Before praising Ricky’s previous projects, he said: ‘I think it must be very sad if you’re teaching drama or creative writing, how can you make a case for the things that make drama and creative writing good when After Life is a success?’

‘You know, ‘cause your kids could just go, “But none of those things happen in this,” and yet millions of people watch it. I think it’s one of the worst things that’s ever been made by a human,’ he added during Rob Brydon’s podcast.
