The Chase viewers were left fuming at their TV screens after a contestant ran out of time and lost thousands of pounds.

During Monday’s episode of the loveable game show, host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new quizzers onto the show looking to put their general knowledge to the test.

As fans tuned in former Coronation Street star introduced quizzers Jim, Chantal, Max and Alice onto the show as they took on Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha.

But it appears the pressure got to one player, Chantal who ran out of time and was eventually caught.

Chantal had an impressive cash builder racking up £6,000 while going head-to-head with the Chaser.

But Chantal from Hampshire had difficulties against Paul Sinha and failed to hit the buzzer on one question.

Host Bradley Walsh asked her: "Which of these men has led the Conservative Party into General election?

“A. Micheal Gove, B. Michael Heseltine or C. Michael Howard.”

The Sinnerman was quick to lock in his answer, and then the time started ticking for Chantal.

Unfortunately, it ran out before she had time to hit a button with many at home frantically urging her to answer.

Bradley said: "Out of time, what would your answer have been?"

    Frustrated, Chantal said: "Michael Heseltine.”

Following her error, many viewers flocked to Twitter to share their annoyance and thoughts.

“Baffles me how people run out of time answering a question on The Chase,” raged one person.

Another added: “All u have to do is press a button.”

“Haven't seen that happen for a while,” said another.

A fourth viewer exclaimed: “Omg Chantal!!! Fancy running out of time!”

    A fifth penned: "How annoying!"
