A manhunt has been launched for the man who allegedly shot dead and used a chainsaw to decapitate a soccer player who saw him sleeping with his ex-girlfriend at her home in southwestern Brazil.

Authorities in Sete Quedas, which borders Paraguay, signaled Danilo Alves, 19, as the main suspect in the chilling murder of Hugo Skulny, who was also 19.

Civil Police investigators initiated the search Wednesday after confirming they had found blood at the home of Skulny’s girlfriend, Rubia de Oliver, 21, and at a farm owned by Alves’ father near the Iguatemi River, where most of the footballer’s remains were recovered Sunday.

Police and a forensic team visited the woman’s home and reconstructed the scene of the murder that took place on the early morning of June 25.

Danilo Alves (pictured) was identified Wednesday as the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of Hugo Skulny, a college student and soccer player, in the southwestern Brazilian city of Sete Quedas. Alves allegedly shot Skulny after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home the morning of June 25 and they decapitated him with a chainsaw and dumped the remains in a river

Authorities have recovered cameras that show Skulny breaking into the home in the small municipality of 10,000.

‘In addition to being shot, they had the cruelty to cut him. It’s too monstrous,’ a retired teacher told Brazilian news outlet G1.

Skulny had been missing for seven days after he attended a party at a gas station in the Paraguay city of Pindoty Porã the night of June 24.

The college student was sitting at the same table as de Oliver, but she told police that they didn’t have a conversation.

Around 3am, Skulny received a phone call from his grandmother and told her that he would be returning home soon. Instead, a friend drove Skulny to de Oliver’s home.

De Oliver told police that Skulny, whom she dated from 2019 to 2020 and regularly met for sex following their breakup, barged inside her residence and found her with Alves.

She said that she attempted to push him out of the bedroom when Alves shot him.

Her lawyer, Felipe Cazuo told G1 that she was surprised to see Skulny breaking in and never saw the moment Alves aimed and fired at Skulny because the fugitive gunman was behind her.

According to De Oliver’s testimony, a man she identified as Manhino, was in another room at the home at the time of the incident.

She said that Alves and Manhino removed Skulny, who was still alive, and placed him inside her vehicle and drove to the river, where they dumped the body.

Manhino, who was questioned by the police but has not been arrested, said he was awoken by the shooting and saw Alves and de Oliver standing.

He argued that Alves forced him to help remove the body and that Alves carried the body out of the car and tossed it in the river. He also said that Alves used a hose to clean the car and that de Oliver washed her entrance.

A Sete Quedas Civil Police high-ranking cop said Skulny was shot three times and that the suspects ‘used instruments to conceal the body.’

Skulny was a freshman in college and was majoring in physical education.

He also played for the Projetinho, a local municipality club.

‘He was playing like never before, and he dreamed of soon standing out and being able to join a big team,’ his cousin Andressa Skulny told G1. ‘He was even a little impatient to achieve his goals soon.’
