The time-honoured tradition of queueing for Wimbledon tickets has already begun – however, it appears that rain and thunderstorms are on the way.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) posted to their social media earlier in the week that they will start accepting arrivals from 2pm today.

Pictures show the ultra-dedicated tennis fans bathing in sunshine and enjoying picnics as they wait in a giant line outside the famous tennis club.

The tradition of queueing has garnered some mixed reactions on social media with some calling it an ‘archaic method’ which is only suited to those living in the UK.

One person wrote on Twitter: ‘How is sitting in a queue even fun in this day and age? Surely this can be done virtually online. Get with it, Wimblers.’

Wimbledon fans can be seen enjoying the sunshine as they queue for the biggest tennis event of the year

Some have called the time-honoured tradition ‘archaic’ and feel that it should be changed

Another similarly complained: ‘How is this archaic method still going on? And this is basically barring access to these tickets to someone not living in the UK.

‘GS always happen in the same place so make it that all tennis fans have a chance to get tickets regardless of where they’re from.’

While these fans were able to enjoy the sunshine it appears as though this may be short lived as rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit the UK early this week.

Warm, breezy temperatures with a mixture of sunshine and showers are expected for the rest of today.

On Monday, however, longer spells of rain – potentially heavy and thundery – will be pushing into Wales and England.

For the rest of the week sunny spells and scattered showers are expected with more persistent rain in the south.

While Thursday looks to be more settled with the rain, cloudy weather will start to appear.

For Sunday there will be highs of 21C and lows of 12C. From Monday through to Tuesday this is expected to drop to 20C and 18C with lows of 13C and 12C.

However, from Thursday through to Saturday warm weather will be on the way.

Saturday especially is looking like it is going to be a hot day with highs of 27C.
