I’ve visited more than 1,600 pubs – but even I wasn’t prepared for Benidorm tourist favourite Sticky Vicky’s ‘sexy magic show’ at boozer

A man who has visited more than 1,600 pubs was left speechless when he watched Sticky Vicky perform in Spain.

Dale Harvey went to Benidorm with some friends for a stag do and thought they’d pop into legendary boozer, The Red Lion, home of the Sticky Vicky ‘sexy magic show’.

Dale and his fiancée Holly Booth are on a mission to visit every single pub in the UK – yet the man who reviews every boozer on his Facebook was lost for words when it came to writing a post about the Spanish pub.

In a Facebook status, he shared some photos of the evening and wrote: ‘I would do a review for The Red Lion in Benidorm… But last night I saw things that no man should have to see.’

He told the Daily Star: ‘It was packed out with people cheering, just amazed by what they’re witnessing. I can honestly say it’s like nothing we’ve got in this country.

‘It’s certainly the strangest experience you’ll probably ever have when going into a pub for a drink.’

The original Sticky Vicky, grandmother Vicky, now 80-years-old, used to perform a series of X-rated tricks in front of stupefied holidaymakers with ping-pong balls, razor blades and beer bottles.

Following her retirement, her daughter, Maria, now performs under the name Sticky Vicky after watching her mother’s shows from a young age.

The original Sticky Vicky, born Victoria Maria Aragues in Tenerife, but who has been using Vicky Leyton for decades, announced she was leaving behind her act in 2016 after 35 years of entertaining holidaymakers.

A Facebook post said: ‘Just to let everyone know that the Legend Sticky Vicky Leyton and her real daughter Demaria Leyton have both retired from sexy magic shows.

‘Vicky at the age of nearly 73 has retired to spend more time with her family and her daughter has other projects that have nothing to do with sexy magic shows.’

She was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and made a full recovery, but The Sun reported that she is suffering from early onset dementia.

Meanwhile, Maria told the publication: ‘I decided to do her show when everyone wanted to take advantage of her name and lie to the public about who her daughter was.

‘My intention was to ally myself with my mother to be stronger, and shut up the liars.’

One Brit visitor to Benidorm, writing on an expat forum about his experience of seeing the original Sticky Vicky in action when she was a sprightly 62 years old, said: ‘When I was out in Benidorm me and my friends went into this bar to watch this act that was coming on next, a tribute to Meat Loaf.

‘But there was this act that was just finishing up and the bloke outside said, “Go in and see Sticky Vicky, she’s not that bad.”

‘Now being new to Benidorm and not knowing exactly what we were letting ourselves in for we headed straight in.

‘I have never seen anything more revolting in my life. I am seriously mentally scarred by it.’
