Harry Redknapp says Sandra didn’t blame him for worst thing he ever did to her

Harry Redknapp’s touching relationship with wife Sandra proved one of the major talking points of this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

But now winner Harry is out of the jungle, he’s opened up about the worst moment of their 51 year marriage.

Praising his ‘queen’ Sandra as the best wife in the world, Harry recalled how she has never blamed him for running her over in a terrifying freak acident.

In 2016 the football manager was driving off in his Range Rover when he failed to realise Sandra’s coat had become trapped in the door, leaving him dragging her down the road.

Afterwards Harry said his wife’s ankle looked like ‘a shark had taken a bite.’

"It was the worst experience of my life," Harry told The Sun . "But she honestly never even blamed me – and it was completely my fault," he admitted.

Recalling the incident, Harry said: "I wasn’t concentrating, I thought she’d crossed the road and then I pulled into the road and she was backed up against my car.

“She never said to me, ‘You should have watched what you were doing’ or made me feel bad. Even when she was laying with a broken ankle in the road she was just unbelievable, she didn’t scream."

Harry said his granddaughter Molly saw it all she was on a bus at the time and was horrified to see her nan screaming in agony in the road.

The ex Tottenham Manager rushed Sandra to hospital , where he apologised repeatedly saying he ‘felt like a stupid idiot’ but Sandra wouldn’t hear of it.

The couple’s close bond became one of the major talking points of this year’s I’m A Celebrity, with many viewers hailing their relationship proof true love really does exit.

And during his time in the jungle, Sandra was never far from Harry’s mind.

He told his campmates: "She is my life."

When the pair were reunited days before the final viewers said they were left in tears they were so moved by their encounter.

Harry turned a corner to find Sandra sitting on a rock, waiting for him, and he could not stop his tears from flowing as they had a heartfelt moment of love and a good old catch-up.

He asked: “Are you alright, everything good?”

They talked about how much they missed each other as Harry continued to cuddle Sandra, and he asked if she’d been watching the show.

“It’s like being in prison and you’ve given me a prison visit,” he joked.

Leaning against her with his arm round her shoulder, he continued: “I’m not going to let you go, you’re not going anywhere.

"You can come in my hammock!”

With tears pouring down Harry said: “I can’t help this, it is not like me, I don’t normally cry, I’m pretty old school. Are you pleased to see me?”

Sandra answered: “Of course, I got a bit sad the other day, I got a bit tearful because I missed you.”
