Coronation Street set for sick paedophile twist in grooming horror
Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) is set to be devastated when he finds out shocking news.
Coronation Street cast member Paul is horrified to discover that his step-dad who sexually abused hum reunites with his mum.
In forthcoming scenes, Paul and Gemma’s (Dolly Rose Campbell) step-dad Kel will arrive in Weatherfield and get back with their mum Bernie.
It will be revealed that Paul was sexually abused as a young teenager by Kel, and he was groomed into believing they were in a relationship.
The truth will be revealed when Paul’s partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) finds out his secret, and tells Paul that he was sexually abused, leading to him struggling to cope.
Paul will come to terms with what happened to him and will go on to fight for justice.
Meanwhile, Bernie will find it difficult to understand how it could have been going on without her realising what was happening.
Producer Iain MacLeod told the Sun: “Gemma and Paul’s family background has always been fascinating to me – the inseparable bond of twins but with a huge fault-line down the middle, which we’ve hinted at but never explained.
“This story sensitively explores something that is tragically all too common in families in the real world and will highlight the way these painful events still reverberate many years later.
“It will, I hope, allow people who have survived similar abuse and perhaps suffered in silence to find their voice and speak up.”
Peter said about the storyline: “I have known about this storyline for some time so have had the opportunity to speak to Duncan Craig at Survivors Manchester in advance of filming which has been great.
“I have also spoken to Jack P Shepherd about how he found filming the male rape storyline and he told me about the increase in calls to Survivors Manchester off the back of it which is incredible.
Corrie continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
