Skydiver reunited with prosthetic leg he lost at 10,000 feet
A thrill-seeker was reunited with the prosthetic leg he lost while skydiving 10,000 feet in the air, officials said this week.
The $15,000 artificial limb fell off mid-flight Sunday and was discovered by a worker in a California lumber yard the next day, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.
Officials investigating the blue, Nike-wearing prosthesis found the owner, identified only as Dion, after reaching out to a nearby airport.
“He was thankful to get his $15k leg back and was even more thankful it didn’t land on anyone or break anything,” the sheriff’s office said.
Dion told officers he lost his real leg in a freak skydiving accident two years ago.
“He jokingly quipped that this was his second leg lost while skydiving,” cops said.
Officials said Dion will stick with his passion but now “promises to make a tether” for his wayward limb.
