Before It All Fell Apart: Watch the Video for Noah Cyrus’ “Live or Die” Featuring Lil Xan
At the time of his very messy breakup with his then-girlfriend Noah Cyrus, rapper Lil Xan said dramatically in an Instagram Livestream, “Yo, sorry to everybody, but I’m X’ing ‘Live or Die,’ that s**t’s not coming out—the music video.” Well, in the Internet Age, it is sometimes hard to keep some things under wraps, and the video to Noah’s collaboration with Lil Xan, “Live or Die,” seems to have leaked onto Youtube.
XXL points out that the video for “Live or Die” appears to have been released under ‘mysterious circumstances.’ The video was not published on Noah’s official Youtube channel, but instead was uploaded by a Youtube user going by the name ‘Mxgnx’ who doesn’t appear to have engaged in any other Youtube activity. Also interesting is that neither Noah nor Lil Xan seem to be promoting it.
While one presumption might be that Noah’s team posted it, it’s also very possible that it is a true leak. Billboard, for what it’s worth, seems to assume that Noah and Lil Xan were together responsible for the release. That said, there are a lot of rumors swirling from a number people who were involved in marketing for both artists saying that management at Columbia Records – the label to which Noah and Lil Xan are currently signed — forced the video’s release. Still others are saying that the leak happened without both artists’ full approval, but that their teams decided not to issue a take-down notice to Youtube once the video was public.
Regardless how it got leaked, the visual for “Live or Die” shows the two artists climbing affectionately all over each other in muted, soft-focus colors on a couch near a fire place. It might be a little uncomfortable to watch for fans of either artist now, given how things turned out. Unless, of course, you believe that Noah’s relationship with Lil Xan was primarily a publicity stunt. In which case, you can just enjoy yourself.
