Vanessa Feltz, 59, told her BBC Radio 2 listeners she had bumped into Carol Kirkwood, 58, and went on to compliment her live on air. The host said the weather presenter informed her she was a regular listener of the show, during a chat in a car park.
Following a weather segment on her show today, Vanessa told listeners: “While I’m discussing the weather, good morning to Carol Kirkwood.
“Beautiful Carol Kirkwood, you will see on BBC television presenting the weather forecast and she is the most delightful person ever.
“I bumped into her in the car park and she said she’s a lovely listener.
“She listens in when she’s driving to wherever she’s going to report on the weather.”
Vanessa went on to give examples of some of the “freezing” places Carol had presented from.
“I would like to shout out to Carol Kirkwood this morning, sending loads and loads of love,” she concluded.
Carol took to her Twitter to respond to the radio host’s shout out today.
In view of her 204,000 followers, she wrote: “Awww lovely @VanessaOnAir @BBCRadio2 Thank you! You have made my day.”
One of her followers commented: “Wow that’s great from Vanessa have a fabulous day both of you. Take Care.”
The BBC Breakfast regular followed up her post with a prediction of today’s weather.
She commented: “The month of May is living up to its name… you ‘may’ see some showers.
“You ‘may’ not! Showers today could be heavy and thundery with hail.

Many of the presenter’s fans flocked to her post to comment.
One user wrote: “Interesting times to be planning filming for walks!!”
A second commented: “It’s not been a very merry month so far, that’s for sure!”
Carol is the main weather presenter on BBC Breakfast.
She first joined BBC News in April 1998 and has been a regular contributor ever since.
The television star took on a completely different role in 2015 as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
Carol took to the dance floor with professional dancer Pasha Kovalev.
She became the sixth celebrity to be voted off the show following a dance-off with Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton.
