Christine and Frank Lampard are expecting their first baby
Christine Lampard is pregnant with her first child with ex-England footballer husband Frank.
Taking to Instagram to announce the news, Frank wrote: ‘We have some exciting news we wanted to share with you. The Lampard family is growing! My gorgeous wife @christinelampard is pregnant and we all couldn’t be happier!!!"
Christine reposted the image and added: "The Lampard family are expanding!! I feel SO excited, nervous and grateful! The list of emotions is endless."
The 39 year old was spotted running errands while holding a bag in front of her tum last week and previously said while dotes on her two stepdaughters, she would love to have a baby to add to their little family.
"If it happens, of course it will be wonderful. If not we have the two girls – and one is about to embark on her teenage years, so that is a whole other chapter about to happen," she told the Mirror in February.
"That is honestly where our heads are at, and we just enjoy life as best we can in between."
Christine has become a big family person since marrying Frank, 39, in 2015.
"I have no huge aspirations at all,” she said.“Which probably doesn’t sound cool these days because everyone does, but I don’t. I am a tick-along-er.
“I went home last weekend and my friends were out and my mum, dad and my sister, and it was one of those things, such a happy moment, and you appreciate we are all in the room together.
“That fulfils me.”
The Northern Irish star – previously said on Loose Women that she’d entertain the idea of IVF – but last July she ruled out the treatment, saying it could put her relationship at risk.
"That isn’t something we have thought about," she told The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine.
"I know friends who have torn themselves apart and jeopardised their relationship because going through IVF was so traumatic and I don’t know if I could do that to myself or Frank."
She continued: "I’m not one of those women who was thinking about babies at the age of 18, and when I first met Frank it wasn’t on the agenda. If it happens, it happens, but right now all is well in my world as it is."
She added: "There are some things you cannot control and life is about being happy with what you have."
"I am always being asked when I am going to have a baby. Everyone seems to be fascinated by my body clock.
"As far as I am concerned, my attitude is that I will wait and see what happens. I’m not pushing myself. I’m not getting stressed or unhappy. I’m a believer in what will be will be."
Part of the reason for her contentment is her relationship with stepdaughters Luna, 12, and Isla, 10 – Frank’s kids from his previous relationship with Elen Rivas. And they clearly feel the same way about her.
Telling how they helped celebrate her recent 39th birthday, she says: “I had the girls in waking us up at 6am to wish me happy birthday.
“They both wrote the most beautiful cards which made me cry. I couldn’t believe how much they loved me. The wee one wrote ‘I usually start cards with “dear” but this is an extraordinary card for an extraordinary person.’ She is 10!
“She went on to say ‘I love you being my stepmum’ and so I started to cry. I’m proud I have that kind of relationship with them.”
Christine and Frank met at the Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards in 2009 and married in December 2015.
The last new addition to the family in recent years has been their dog Minnie, much loved by both kids and parents.
With such a happy and successful life, she feels no dread of her next birthday – the big 4-0.
“We’ve never talked about the age thing, it doesn’t bother me,” she says.
Joining Loose Women in late 2016 has made her embrace ageing more, she says.
“You can’t do anything about it so why worry?” she says.
“Age has never fazed me. I think being on Loose Women is a brilliant platform for that because we all look different, different age groups, and we are all different shapes and sizes. And it works.
“I haven’t been to the gym for ages but we walk loads. I walk miles and miles with the dog every week.”
And as to how she will mark the milestone birthday, she has no idea.
“Where will I be next year?” she laughs. “I struggle to tell you what I’m doing next Tuesday – whereas Frank is the polar opposite because he has lived his life as a footballer.
“In September he knows what he’s doing on March 3. He’s still like it now, a planner. Nothing would get done in our lives without him.”
The former Chelsea midfielder is also a romantic. When Christine had to work on her birthday, he sent flowers and cupcakes to cheer her up.
The pair then had a birthday dinner and a weekend away before Christine returned to her busy work schedule.
