Dave Bautista takes down homophobic Bishop calling for Pride boycott

He’s famous for taking care of his business in the wrestling ring but Dave Bautista proved he isn’t afraid to slam down on Twitter when he needs to do.

The WWE icon – known in the ring as Batista – was among many across the world who were left unimpressed after Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin’s called for followers to boycott Gay Pride Month events and celebrations.

‘A reminder that Catholics should not support or attend LGBTQ “Pride Month” events held in June,’ he wrote. ‘They promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals. They are especially harmful for children.’

The Guardians of the Galaxy star saw the tweet and couldn’t help but fight back against the Bishop’s judgmental tone.

‘My moms a lesbian. I think I turned out ok (sic),’ he tweeted back. ‘And the activities she chooses is to help the homeless and people suffering from mental illness.

‘I admit I’m not perfect but at least I was never a judgmental hypocrite! Im sure you dont speak for most Catholics.Have a nice day.(sic)’

Thrilled fans were delighted to see the actor take a stand and flooded his comments with thankful messages.

‘You’ve always been a hero of mine and now your mum is too,’ one fan wrote.

‘My man, preach that good stuff equal right for every last one of us my dude,’ another added.

The 50-year-old recently announced his retirement from the world of wrestling, after a successful 19 year career.

Turning his focus on acting, he’s will star in the upcoming adaptation of Dune, alongside Timothee Chalamet and Josh Brolin, while he will return to play Drax in Guardians Of The Galaxy 3.
