EastEnders’ Jake Wood says emotional goodbye as he films final Max Branning scenes after 15 years on soap

Jake Wood first joined BBC's EastEnders as the Jack the Lad character Max Branning in 2006.
Now, the day has come for the 48-year-old soap star to say goodbye as he prepared to play his character for the final time after 15 years on Albert Square.
Jake confessed it was a "sad day" as he reflected on all the memories with the BBC One show in an emotional video on Instagram.

The actor shared a message to thank his fans for supporting him over the years as he walked around the famous set, where he rose to fame.
Jake began: "Morning everyone. How are we all? I hope you're well.
"A wet and grey day. It's a strange day for me this, my last day on set, my last day filming EastEnders after 15 years as Max Branning."

He continued: "Yeah, I'll miss the place. It's the people really for me.
"I've met some amazing people and made some amazing friends. I've just had an incredible, life-changing experience."
The Max Branning star went on to say: "Thank you to everyone for all your messages and support and love.

"I've really appreciated all of that and who knows what the future brings but today we say goodbye to Max Branning."
He finished off his short clip by adding: "A bit of a sad day but I just wanted to share that with you. Alright guys, take care."
Jake posted the video on his Instagram page with the caption: "That’s a wrap.
"After 15 years on Albert Square it’s finally time to say goodbye to Max Branning today. I will miss Eastenders and the people here so much. Thanks to everyone for all your support."
Jake's friends and fans waded in to wish him all the best, including Jack P Shepherd, who is best known as David Platt in Coronation Street.
He commented underneath: "Shall be very much missed."
Jake's co-star Jo Joyner, who starred as Max Branning's wife Tanya Branning, shared: "You've been fantastic – over & out xx."
One fan went on to reply: "Oh man, Max is one of my favourites," while another said: "My guilty pleasure… noooooo!!!"
