James Martin, 49, was less than impressed when Johnny Vegas showed off his “treble carb Tuesday” meal. The 51-year-old comedian presented his dinner which consisted of fish fingers, potato waffles, peas, sweetcorn, and some white bread with tabasco to finish off.
Johnny proudly showcased his meal to his 504,000 Twitter followers and tagged numerous celebrity chefs to get their approval, including an unsuspecting James.
He said: “Once we’re finally through the worst of all this I’m going to follow your advice… and open my own gaff.
“Thanks for your support of #TrebleCarbTuesday x.”
Unimpressed, James replied: “Where’s the damn butter?
“Haven’t I taught you anything.”
James’ love of butter is well-known by fans, as the TV chef even wrote a cookbook based on the ingredient.
One follower then jumped to Johnny’s defence and informed James that the bread is “generously buttered”, but that the buttered sides were facing each other and as a result, weren’t as visible.
Michelin starred chef Galton Blackiston also gave his opinion on Johnny’s “treble carb” meal.

He penned: “Maybe add a shaving of caviar and a shaving of truffle and you can charge for that.”
User Jayne then replied: “Now, I’m from just down the road from the force of nature that is Johnny Vegas and have known him for a long time.
“The fact he’s having tabasco sauce with that will raise eyebrows, so let’s not get carried away!
“That said, I’d still be one of his first customers.”

James’ book, simply called ‘Butter’, claims to be “the essential book for anyone who loves to cook with this glorious, versatile ingredient”.
Speaking recently to Express.co.uk, the Saturday Kitchen presenter opened up about what he thinks of butter’s rival, margarine.
He exclaimed: “Margarine should be banned.
“It’s dreadful, dreadful stuff, it’s two elements away from plastic, it’s horrendous stuff.
“I’m a farmer’s kid. We’ve always had full-fat milk, butter, and cream. And that’s what we had. There wasn’t such a thing as semi-skimmed milk in our house.”
While people often debate about what is better, butter or margarine, James revealed: “It’s the ready-made food, it’s the packet food, the hidden salt, hidden fat
“That’s the problem in this country. It’s not the butter in a butter block or butter you put on your toast. It’s the fact that not as many people cook in the UK as they do in France or Italy or Spain.”
