Lana Del Rey Scores First Alternative Songs No. 1 With ‘Doin’ Time’
Lana Del Rey‘s “Doin’ Time” has topped the Billboard Alternative Songs chart dated September 28.
This marks Del Rey’s first No. 1 on the chart as well as the unprecedented fourth No. 1 in a row by a soloist.
“Doin’ Time” follows Dominic Fike‘s “3 Nights,” Matt Maeson‘s “Cringe” and Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy” to be No. 1 on the chart.
The four-in-a-row by a soloist breaks the three straight No. 1s record set in 1992.
In all, five songs by soloists have topped the chart so far in 2019. Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend” was No. 1 for two weeks in May.
Only once before have five solo artists’ songs have led the list in a single year. That was in 1989.
Meanwhile, the song is leading the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart for a fourth week with 10.9 million audience impressions, Nielsen Music data shows.
