Luann de Lesseps celebrates 6 months of sobriety
Luann de Lesseps is six months sober.
Taking to Instagram, the “Real Housewives of New York” star celebrated the milestone with her family, including ex-husband Count Alexandre de Lesseps, in Sag Harbor.
“Greatest reunion ever! Wonderful to spend the weekend with the kids and The Count,” de Lesseps penned Monday. “Also counting my blessings! Celebrating 6 months of sobriety! Happy 4th of July, everyone! @noeldelesseps @victoriadelesseps #onedayatatime #lovemyfamily #grateful #rhony #countess.”
The star of “#CountessAndFriends” has come a long way following her meltdown in Palm Beach, Fla., last December, where she was arrested for disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest, battery of an officer and making threats against a public servant. She then sought treatment, later crediting rehab for saving her life.
“At this point in my life, I don’t want to drink, nor do I have interest in drinking,” the mother of two said to “Extra” in April. “Rehab saved my life. It was the best thing that I could do for myself and I’m so glad I did that.”
After pulling the plug on her seven-month marriage to Tom D’Agostino Jr. last summer, de Lesseps, 53, began consuming several alcoholic beverages daily.
“I would have the hair of the dog drink the next day, and drink more, and it didn’t feel good,” she told People. “Alcohol just stopped working for me.”
As for the future, de Lesseps is taking it a day at a time.
“Everybody around me says, ‘Luann, you’re not an alcoholic.’ I don’t know if I am or not,” the Bravo personality shared. “All I know is that not drinking works for me right now. Will I drink again? I don’t know. I miss good red wine. Not to say that I’ll never have a good red wine again.”
She continued, “Who knows where we’ll all be tomorrow. For today, that’s the choice that I’m making for myself.”
