Maya Jama admitted she has “failed miserably” at some of the tasks she has taken on during the coronavirus pandemic. Stormzy’s ex said she is now living somehwere new and is “trying to sort out things”.
I spent my lockdown, most of it, just sorting out my personal stuff
The 26-year-old gave insight into what she has been up to in a new interview.
Her comments come ahead of her television return, hosting the virtual Virgin Media V Festival 2020 this weekend.
When asked about life behind the scenes, she detailed cryptically: “I spent my lockdown, most of it, just sorting out my personal stuff…
“I’d just moved house, trying to sort out things.”
Maya continued: “I’ve never had much free time for, as I’ve always been working.
“So, I’ve made the most of things like… catching up with my friends over the phone, family members, painting walls and, I don’t know, trying to learn how to cook different things and failing miserably… when it’s for yourself it’s not that inspiring!”
She said she indulged in regular hair and face masks, and started walking regularly.
“I’ve never done [that] in my life, long walks,” she stated.
Maya then said: “Basically, working on my insides rather than work stuff most of the time.
“I had to do things on Instagram, a couple of makeup tutorials, I learnt how to do a very good eye shadow from a YouTube video, but that’s about it. I started skipping as well… so that’s something!”
The small screen favourite went on to dicuss her cancelled summer festival plans.
“I had so many plans!” she exclaimed. “In my mind I was like, ‘I’m going to go to this one, I’m going to go to that one’, I had outfits in my mind, I was going to do the whole glittery thing… but no, there’s nothing!

“It’s just made me a bit sad, so instead I’ve been having loads of indoor, speakers on, dance around, wear your bikini and pretend-you’re-there kind of parties for myself.”
Ahead of Virgin Media’s V Festival 2020, Maya recalled some of her own memories of the annual event.
She said she had been going to festivals since she was a young child, as her mother was a regular.
The star added: “I’m always in a welly… V festivals in my experiences have usually been quite warm, I go in a group of friends if I’m not working.
“I just look for the biggest crowd around each tent or stage. I just go and have a listen to every other person…”
Maya will be fronting the virtual offering alongside Joel Dommett, starting tomorrow.
It will be without the crowds of 170,000 it drew in its heyday across sites in Staffordshire and Essex, but the performers will still be heading back home to the iconic Chelmsford site, Hylands Park, and the public can watch along at home.
Virgin Media’s V Festival 2020 will be airing at 7pm on ITV2 tomorrow until Sunday.
