Paddy McGuinness wife: How Paddy opened up on ‘very difficult’ relationship with Christine
Paddy McGuinness is hosting the Celebrity Sport Relief special on BBC gameshow Catchpoint this evening. The BBC One special will feature netball star Eboni Usoro-Brown, Strictly pro Johannes Radebe and comedians Darren Harriott and Susan Calman.
Paddy has previously opened up about his relationship with wife Christine and said “it’s a wonder” they are still together as he talked about the difficulties of raising children with autism.
In 2018, the TV presenter broke down in tears during an emotional television interview as he revealed they “can’t do normal things as a couple”.
Speaking on John Bishop: In Conversation With… Paddy said he and Christine always needed to be on hand to care for their twins Penelope and Leo, six, and three-year-old Felicity who suffer from the condition.
The presenter told the comedian: “It’s very, very, very, very difficult, you know any parent with children with any kind of special needs is very difficult.

“Some days it’s a wonder how we’re still together, me and Christine, because you can’t sort of do the normal things that you would as a couple.
“I can count on one hand the amount of times we’ve been on a night out together, because you can’t just have a babysitter.
“You can’t just say ‘I’ll drop ’em off at me relatives to look after’ ’cos it’s not like that.”
Paddy praised his wife for bearing the brunt of the parenting as he became depressed by the situation and threw himself into work.
He said: “I think women with children are better than men. This is only my opinion.
“Might be ’cos me Mum brought me up. I think maternally, they just take to being a parent quicker than men.
“And when the kids were born, I had that strange working-class mentality of these kids are here now, I’ve gotta provide for ’em.”
Paddy and Christine’s twins were diagnosed with autism in 2017, and recently they announced their youngest is also on the spectrum.

“All three of you are thriving with ASD [Autistic Spectrum Disorder]. I will never try and change you, you are perfect as you are.
“Mummy is going to change the world to understand her superstars. You are sensitive, you are strong, and you have such a special bond.
“You are funny and talented, cheeky and sweet, you all love your toys to be kept extra neat.
“Shining brighter than the stars above. You are special, so wanted and oh so loved.
“Leo, Penelope and Felicity, you are unaware of the positive impact you have, even on the tough days you even make me laugh.
“My trio, my babies, my fabulous three. Together we are a strong, proud, unique family.”
She signed it off: “All my love always, Mummy” alongside her name and Instagram handle.
