Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby laugh off This Morning row claims in backstage shot

Phillip Schofield, 57, has been at the centre of claims that his relationship with This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby, 38, has become “strained” in recent reports. But the pair seem to have dismissed those claims as they appeared in high spirits at the press launch for Dancing On Ice 2020.

Holly looked chic as she sported an off-the-shoulder ball gown which kept her toned physique under wraps.

The floor-length dress featured silver stitching on the black dress which she teamed with open-toed stiletto heels.

The This Morning beauty kept her blonde tresses in her signature style, as she swept a loose wave behind her ear showcasing diamond earrings.

Holly kept her make-up light, wearing a smokey-eye, a pink gloss lip and bronzer to highlight her cheekbones.

Phillip looked equally dapper in a black suit which he teamed with a matching tie and a white shirt.

In backstage photos of the pair, they could be seen laughing hysterically as Holly threw her head backwards during their exchange.

The hosts also posed for pictures on the red carpet before this year’s Dancing On Ice 2020 line-up worked the cameras.

It comes after Holly and Phillip returned to This Morning today – which marked the first time the pair had been seen together since reports of an alleged “feud” emerged.

During today’s show, there didn’t appear to be any signs of a strain in their relationship as they took a ride on a Ferris wheel.

An ITV spokesperson has defiantly denied there is any “toxic” atmosphere behind-the-scenes with the This Morning stars.

They told Express.co.uk: “It’s deeply disappointing and unfair for Phillip to be the target of this sort of malicious gossip.

“Phillip is a much respected broadcaster and colleague and this is absolutely not a description of This Morning that we recognise.”

They also said of the television duo: “Holly and Phil are great friends both on and off screen and are popular among viewers and colleagues alike.”

Editor of This Morning Martin Frizell also said: “I spend hundreds of days a year in their company and what you see is what you get, a genuine friendship from a couple who are both spontaneously funny and professional.

“We have the smartest viewers watching telly and believe me they would be the first to notice any issues – they haven’t because there are none.”

Meanwhile, Heart Radio DJ Amanda Holden has weighed in on the alleged “feud” between Phillip and his co-stars.

Amanda said she had moved on from her spat with the veteran host but added the This Morning presenters had finally found the “tin opener”.

When quizzed about the “tense” environment at ITV by her co-hosts Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts, the Britain’s Got Talent judge revealed she was happy people were “sticking up” for themselves.

Addressing the claims about the presenter, Amanda mused: “Listen, I’ve drawn a line under all of those issues with Phillip.

“I’m just going to say I really admire anyone that stick up for themselves because it’s not an easy thing to do. There’s a tin opener and there’s a can somewhere and other people have found the tin opener. That’s all I’m saying.”

Her comments come after it was reported earlier this year there was a rift between Amanda and Phillip over a short-term presenting gig on This Morning.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am and Dancing On Ice returns on the same channel next year.
