Pregnant Malin Andersson is taking anti-depressants after struggling with depression

Malin Andersson has candidly admitted she's taking anti-depressants during her pregnancy after struggling with prenatal depression and suicidal thoughts.

Love Island star Malin, 29, is expecting a baby girl after loosing her daughter Consy at just four weeks old in January 2019.

The pregnant star, who recently admitted she's not enjoying her pregnancy, shared a photo of herself holding a pill in her hand while stood in front of her unborn baby's cot.

Malin, who's bump can be seen in the image, shared the snap on her Instagram page and revealed in the caption she had been inspired by Dr Alex George's recent admission to share her own story.

She told her 740,000 followers: "So I’m deeply inspired to write this because @dralexgeorge posted something that resonated with me. As you all know this pregnancy has been a tough time for me.

"It’s brought up emotions and feelings and Unhealed trauma that I never knew existed within my soul and body.

"I’ve struggled immensely and I started to suffer from pre-natal depression and suicidal thoughts from the 2nd trimester."

Malin continued: "I know that it is a HUGE taboo and such stigma to be on anti-depressants whilst being pregnant.

"Nobody wants to talk about it or admit if they are, and they are scared to ask for help if they are struggling with their pregnancy.

"They are also hesitant to give out anti depressants and attach it a lot with pro’s and con’s so we feel damned if we do and damned if we don’t."

"I could say much more but I’ll hold it here," Malin said. "I’m a deep, spiritually minded and open person – I live life with positivity – I have overcome some huge battles but even I have suffered this time round and have needed help."

The Love Island star then urged anyone else who may be struggling to seek help.

She wrote: "Please don’t be afraid to ask for help if you’re pregnant – just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean that you HAVE to be happy – that everything should be sunshine and rainbows.

"It doesn’t always work like that – I never thought I would be suffering with pre-natal depression and intrusive thoughts.. this is why I’m posting. To help someone that may need to seek help.

"You’ve got this. Don’t feel guilty for feeling however you do."

Malin's candid post was met with praise from her fans in the comments section as one said: "Thank you for your beauty and courage to share… you are not struggling alone! So happy for you that you sought help and share with other. Sending lots of love".

Another added: "Very brave to open up about this Malin. I've been on antidepressants myself for nearly 3 years, absolutely nothing to be ashamed of."

While a third said: "Thanks for sharing, so brave of you!"
