Steph McGovern made a candid admission about family life on Twitter today. The Channel 4 star, who is about to launch her new show Steph’s Packed Lunch, enjoyed a “rare family meal out” yesterday and detailed the perils of taking a child out of the house during a pandemic online.
Mum-of-one Steph, who lives with her partner and 10-month-old baby daughter, made her comments on social media.
She explained how the youngest was of course not the best at following COVID-19 protocols.
She told her 404,500 followers about the experience after catching her only child licking the furniture.
Steph wrote online: “When you’re enjoying a rare family meal out, in a very Covid secure restaurant, and then you see your 10 month old daughter licking the furniture [hand on face emoji].”
Twitter followers and fans took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts and their own experiences with babies and toddlers.
Some posted pictures of their children and grandchildren licking windows and playground equipment at the park.
“As a first-time mother I once caught my daughter (now a mother herself) eating soil from a container in the garden…” one social media user said, before adding: “[I] rinsed her mouth as much as possible and much later found small pieces of grit and similar debris in her nappy…”
Steph replied with a similar story about her child.
“That happened with my little one with sand a few weeks ago. In her mouth, hair, nappy, even found it in my bra by the end of the day.”

Another user added: “And looking for floor tapas? I’d find my youngest eating wotsits, chips and all sorts we’d not ordered.”
“Floor tapas!! I love that! Ps. No Wotsits should ever be left uneaten,” the amused presenter responded.
Clearly sympathizing with the predicament, another parent added: “Haha, they don’t know do they. My 21 month old daughter touches everything as well.
“It’s a nightmare, but they just don’t have a clue do they.”
A fifth follower shared their story on the micro-blogging site: “Took my nephew to the zoo yesterday.
“It was all going very well with masks, hand sanitiser and social distancing etc. Then he decided to lick the windows of the monkey enclosure.”
Steph’s Packed Lunch will air weekdays at 12.30pm from September 15.
